What Linear Actuator Controllers Do and Why the Right Setup Matters
Why Proper Actuator Control Ensures Safe, Reliable System Performance
A linear actuator is only as good as the control system that drives it. This is something I’ve repeated for nearly three decades, and it remains as true today as it was at the beginning.
Controllers determine speed, position, synchronisation, limit points and safety behaviour. A poorly configured controller shortens actuator life. A well-configured one extends it.
Many customers underestimate synchronisation. When two or more actuators must move together, even minor load variations can cause desynchronisation unless the controller is designed for feedback and automatic correction.
Overload protection is another essential function. Without it, mechanical stress accumulates slowly until a failure occurs.
This is why we don’t view controllers as accessories. They are part of the actuator system. We programme them, test them and when needed fine-tune them before dispatch. It’s far easier than troubleshooting a misbehaving system once it’s installed on machinery.
